Not really. This theory was more created because taking care of your nails is really what helps them to grow. Keep your nails clean and filed evenly so that they cannot chip off. Don't bite your nails or get into any other bad nail habits (such as clicking or tapping them excessively). One trick I always use to scrub them gently with a nailbrush every night in the shower. This invigorates the nail follicles and helps them to grow a little quicker, and much more evenly.

No, but you can just buy nail growth polish and use it once or twice a week. I found that using clear nail polish helps them grow but not everyday.
