OMG... I've been wondering the same thing! Every black male with whom I work (except maybe one) has long nails. They're manicured but still long... it's really kinda weird.

my dad noticed this in the sixties (i haven't rly noticed in MY time tho...) He kinda compared it to how a lot of black ppl (esp ones coming from poor backgrounds), when they get $ they wanna show off. And having long nails makes it look like you don't need to do physical labor. status symbol

I am going to answer this with an question. Why do racist people, who claim not to be racist, notice these things and group traits into races not how to were raised or anything logical like that?

You must not know a lot of different black males. I'm from a black community, and I've only known a handful of black men during my lifetime who chose to grow their nails long.
So they can have some more white on them..
