Why do we grow nails?

I was wondering why do we grow nails if we keep cutting them. They must grow for a reason or we wouldn't have any. So why do we grow nails, is it something we eat?or something we do?Why do we grow nails?
its just yuor body getting rid of a certain type of waste called keratin, same thing your hair's made out ofWhy do we grow nails?

Also,it's one of the most important parts of

They need to style their nails also.
